Budget HVAC thermometer kit specifically designed for the heating & ventilation industry. 0.1°C resolution two probes included FREE certificate of calibration...
Legionnaire’s / Legionella thermometer kit specifically designed for legionnella testing.
A major risk factor which encourages legionella growth is inaccurate water temperatures. The legionella bacteria multiply in water at temperatures between 20 to 45°C, particularly if nutrients are existent such as scale, rust, sludge or algae. One typical control method is to store cold water below 20°C, with hot water being stored above 60°C and distributed at above 50°C.
The kit can be used to check the temperature of standing water and also the surface of pipes and tanks that shape part of the water system.
The immersion probe should be placed into the water, at a minimum depth of 25mm. The ribbon surface probe can be used for taking the temperature of pipes and tanks, whereas the wire probe is able to reach awkward places or locations where the other probes may not be appropriate. Also, the kit comes with a traceable certificate of calibration.
Currently, legislation requires employers or any person in control of a premises, to arrange a legionella risk assessment. The revised Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) issued by the Government’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE) significantly extends the scope of its guidance on how to control of legionella bacteria in water.
The code now covers all hot and cold-water systems in the workplace irrespective of their capacity, (the lower limit of 300 litres previously used to exclude domestic systems no longer applies). Although domestic systems may represent a risk, the code only applies to risks related to work activity.
This means that all employers who manage sites which contain any hot/cold water systems and/or a wet cooling system have a legal duty to establish any risk of contamination and how to stop or control it.
